Happy Day!

Dog Tired
Today I had the extreme pleasure of having all three meals with my best friend! It is a busy time of year at the non-profit I work part-time for and Tim is out of town, so Trond spent yesterday and today at Playful Pets.
He is dog tired.

A Healing Hund
Last Thursday, Tim had another LASIK procedure. On Friday morning, we went back to the doctor for his follow up appointment. Everything was healing correctly but Tim was in pain longer than the last time and more sensitive to light. For the rest of the day on Friday, he took it easy on the big couch, listening to rather than watching TV. He kept his eyes closed for most of the day.

Springtime has hit Chicago early this year and I am loving every second of it! This is my favorite time of year. I hope it lasts and lasts this year. Most dog owners, I imagine, are greeted by their hund at the door when they come home from work or rehearsal or errands or whatever. Maybe their hund barks when they hear that someone is at the door. Or at least, maybe their hund raises their head a little bit when their owner comes home.

Snowflakes & Sweaters
It snowed off and on this weekend. Nothing accumulated, thankfully, but it was odd snow. It didn’t really seem like flakes. It seemed more like those little white balls that fill bean bag chairs were falling from the sky, rather than snowflakes, per say.

A Hund - His Balls
Labrador Retrievers are known as a friendly, amiable breed. Trond is no exception. He has always been a sociable fellow. But a year ago, when he was a mere 10 months old, his friendliness was a little too… assertive. We’d be at a dog park or out on a walk, another dog would stop to play with our hund and the playing would turn into, well, harassment. Our puppy was growing up.

Laughing Hund, Hugging Hanson
Trond is trying to understand what it is that Tim and I ‘do’. He knows we do not have jobs with ‘regular hours’ or real stability. He knows we sometimes play weird instruments that freak him out, like a saxophone, guitar, keyboard or - horror of all horrors - an accordion. Back Yard Hund
When you have a hund in the city, you gotta take that hund out a lot. Tim and I walk this dog three times a day for at least half an hour each walk - well, that is our goal. If the weather is totally horrible, then we’re out with him long enough for him to take care of his business and we are back inside where it is nice and dry.

A Helping Hund
Today I needed to go to the Post Office and the bank. I could have gone on my way to lunch but decided that it would be more fun to take care of these little errands on the morning walk with my helping hund.
So, the hund helped me drop off the mail that needed to go out today.

Hund Park
It was nearly 50 degrees and sunny outside today, both Tim and I were home this afternoon, so you know, by cracky, that we would head out to the dog park with the hund! We hopped in the car and drove over to good ol’ Puptown.
When you go to dog parks, in Chicago, people hang their leashes, harnesses, back packs, etc on the fence but Puptown is nice in that they provide hooks.
